Pilates

Pilates is a full body exercise method that was created in the 1920’s by Joseph Pilates to help athletes and dancers return to their sport after injury. Since then it has been modified and adapted to suit everyone no matter what age, gender or ability. It is suitable for many health problems or medical conditions as many of the exercises can be modified or adapted to suit a participant’s individual needs. Pilates focuses on correct alignment, good technique and correct breathing and aims to increase flexibility and strength. It lengthens and stretches all muscle groups within the body in a balanced manner and requires concentration and focus as you move through a variety of precise motions.

Joseph Pilates says you will see the benefits of pilates after 10 sessions, but it is fair to say that with Donna we are having fun, feeling taller and learning lots after only a few sessions. The circumstances have been difficult with social distancing but Donna has given us a great space to work in, and we have some lovely class mates too.

I have been having 1:1 Pilates sessions with Donnamarie Lewis for three months now. My first session the week before lockdown. Donna is FABULOUS! I needed some hardcore therapy following a Sudden Cardiac Arrest last October. With an NHS physio waiting list as long as your arm and then Covid, Donna has been just brilliant. I would not hesitate recommending Donnamarie’s classes. I absolutely love her xxx
